The length and width of a rectangle are 7 cm and (x-8) cm respectively. Find the value of x if the area with of the rectangle is 42 cm squared.

to find the area of a rectangle is LxW=A

plug in the given numbers you have

L = 7

W = x-8

A = 42

7 * x-8 = 42

7x-56= 42

solve for X
